Position Overview

The Aviation Training Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering to aviation regulations and the training principles established by FlightSafety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment training programs.
  • Create and prepare instructional materials that align with training delivery to fulfill client requirements in accordance with the relevant curriculum.
  • Assess and track trainee progress, recommending qualifications or additional training as necessary.
  • Maintain precise training records for each client, supporting their success in achieving designated objectives.
  • Identify and address client training challenges, seeking assistance when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements to maintain Instructor qualifications.
Required Qualifications
  • Willingness to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
  • If lacking an ATP, must meet the criteria of:
  • 14 CFR part 61.153
  • 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
  • Preferred: Experience with FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training.
  • Preferred: A total of 2,500 hours of flight time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Familiarity with aviation safety standards and practices.
  • Understanding of common aviation regulations.
  • Capability to manage classes and deliver effective instruction.
  • Basic facilitation skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Openness to coaching and feedback for personal development.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment

In performing the duties of this role, the employee is frequently required to use hands for handling objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and communicate verbally. The role may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Physical capabilities necessary for this position include the ability to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate controls with both feet. The employee must navigate various controls within the Simulator device from the Instructor's chair and enter and exit the Simulator via the provided ramp. Movement between the Instructor station, screen, and podium is required while instructing in the classroom. The employee may need to exit from a malfunctioning Simulator in a severely pitched position. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing job duties, the employee often works near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to various environmental conditions.
