Archivist Position at Auburn University

The Charles D. McCrary Institute at Auburn University is seeking a highly skilled Archivist to lead the creation, maintenance, and curation of a comprehensive digital repository hosting a diverse range of cybersecurity content. This position will ensure compliance with copyright laws and Auburn University policies while collaborating with the Web Engineer, Web Designer, Auburn Library, and external vendors and partners.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Web Engineer and Web Designer to create and maintain a repository with a variety of content, including cybersecurity research, op-eds, news, event information, and academic articles.
- Oversee the successful operation of a dedicated cybersecurity news site and associated daily digital newsletter, ensuring timely updates and relevance of content.
- Verify materials for authenticity, physical condition, and historical content, and analyze materials to spot defects and determine inclusion in collections.
- Supervise contractors and services to ensure effective creation and maintenance of the digital library and associated repository, managing relationships with external vendors and partners.
- Aid individuals accessing the archives to retrieve information or conduct research, ensuring materials are available to the public through scans and copies.
- Continually identify, curate, and update the digital library with relevant and engaging cybersecurity content, ensuring compliance with copyright laws and university policies.
- Work closely with the Auburn University library to develop and integrate the cyber research and policy systems and materials with the Institute's digital library system.
- Ensure artifacts are properly cared for, including digitizing photos, maps, and other documents.
- Collaborate with the Institute's Senior Fellows, research and policy teams to ensure seamless access to the materials they need through the Institute's digital library, providing support and training as needed.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with other libraries and digital vendors to secure licensed access to materials for the digital archives, ensuring a rich and comprehensive collection of resources.
- Implement and manage analytics tools to track the usage of the digital repository, preparing regular reports on repository usage, content growth, and other key metrics to inform strategic decisions.
- Bachelor's degree in Library, Information Systems, History, Library Science, History, Archival Science, or a related field.
- 4 years of experience in working in archival collections or curation of historical records in a museum or public history setting.
- Certified Archivist certification preferred.
- Higher Education experience.
- Experience with Banner and/or Kronos.
- Experience in sponsored programs.
