Auburn University is seeking a highly skilled HVACR Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for performing routine installation, replacement, or repairs to a variety of building heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Installation and Repair: Perform installation, replacement, or repairs to a variety of building HVACR equipment, including refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heat pumps, compressors, forced-air furnaces, boilers, exhaust fans, humidifiers, split systems, variable frequency drives, and programmable logic controllers.
- Planning and Scheduling: Assist in planning, scheduling, and executing major HVACR system repair projects, such as the replacement of air handling units, chillers, or boilers, and lead emergency repair efforts to repair such units.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Inspect and troubleshoot HVACR systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating operating status and material condition, identifying necessary repairs, and recommending a proper course of action.
- Work Order Management: Oversee and plan assigned work orders using Facilities Management AIM work order system to prioritize and schedule work to best meet the needs of Auburn University and its customers.
- On-Call Status: May be required to serve in an on-call status and remain work-ready when scheduled for an on-call period or rotation.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma and 2 years of experience as an HVACR technician OR an Associate's degree or vocational training in HVACR or related field.
- License and Certifications: Valid driver's license and must obtain Universal Refrigerant Card within 90 days of the hire date.
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration theories, principles, and systems operations, as well as knowledge of all major HVACR system components, preventative maintenance practices, and basic knowledge of electrical systems, generator operation, and repair, workplace safety, and safe work procedures.
- Ability to Perform: Ability to perform preventative maintenance on HVACR equipment, troubleshoot and repair HVACR systems, and assist in the installation, repair, and/or replacement of common HVACR system components.
