Overview


The IT Compliance Specialist is essential in ensuring that our information technology systems and procedures align with regulatory standards and industry best practices.

This role will provide strategic oversight and direction to the IT compliance team while working closely with various departments, including IT, finance, and internal audit, to identify and mitigate potential compliance risks.

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements and relevant industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a robust IT compliance strategy to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and industry benchmarks.
  • Oversee all facets of IT compliance, including the assessment, development, implementation, and maintenance of IT controls and processes.
  • Collaborate with IT and finance teams to identify and document critical IT controls and processes subject to compliance regulations.
  • Conduct regular evaluations and audits of IT controls to ensure compliance and identify potential risks.
  • Create and implement IT compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain alignment with industry standards.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the IT compliance team, setting objectives and fostering a culture of compliance.
  • Coordinate with auditors to facilitate compliance assessments and provide necessary documentation.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and changes in compliance regulations to ensure ongoing adherence and recommend updates to IT controls.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement IT compliance initiatives.
  • Prepare and present regular updates to senior management regarding the status of IT compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of nine years of experience in IT compliance, internal audit, or a related field, preferably in the healthcare sector.
  • External audit experience is advantageous.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) are beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and their application to IT systems.
  • Familiarity with NIST, HIPAA, and ISO standards.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing effective IT compliance programs.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements is essential.
