Kaiser Permanente is in search of a Nuclear Medicine Technologist II to join our dedicated team.
Position OverviewThis role involves the preparation, measurement, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes under the guidance of a Nuclear Medicine Physician. The technologist will employ safe and efficient methods to ensure the highest quality of patient care and diagnostic imaging.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct diagnostic imaging studies as directed by the Physician, utilizing advanced imaging equipment to capture accurate diagnostic images.
- Prepare and administer PET radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring precise dosage calculations.
- Utilize radiation detection instruments to measure radioactivity and verify equipment calibration.
- Adhere to established radiation safety protocols for the handling and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Provide training and orientation to new Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
- Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on imaging equipment.
- Conduct Point of Care Testing (POCT) for blood glucose levels and ensure quality control of testing devices.
- Assist in PET/CT Simulation for radiation therapy planning.
- Maintain knowledge of adjunct medications and their appropriate use in conjunction with imaging procedures.
- Review patient medical histories and laboratory results to ensure safe imaging practices.
Basic Requirements:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in nuclear medicine.
- Associate's degree or completion of a JRCNMT accredited nuclear medicine program.
- Certification in Basic Life Support.
- Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
Additional Requirements:
- Must possess State of California certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Demonstrated competency in performing all relevant procedures.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to present information effectively to diverse audiences.
- Willingness to work collaboratively in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
