Job Summary:

As a Nuclear Medicine Technician II- PET CT, you will play a critical role in preparing, measuring, and administering radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic studies. Under the direction of a Nuclear Medicine Physician, you will utilize efficient and safe processes to perform related technological functions, ensuring optimal diagnostic quality of patient care. Additionally, you will train and orient Nuclear Medicine Technologists.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic studies on patients using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and produce diagnostic images.
  • Prepare PET radiopharmaceuticals, calculate doses, and administer doses under the general supervision of the Physician.
  • Measure radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors, and ensure accurate calibration of equipment.
  • Follow radiation safety techniques for the use and disposal of radioactive materials.
  • Train and orient PET CT Technologists.
  • Perform Point of Care Testing (POCT) for blood glucose levels and GFR, including quality control of glucometers used for POCT.
  • Perform PET CT Simulation for radiation therapy planning.
  • Knowledge of adjunct medications, their contraindications, and administration in conjunction with PET CT exams.
  • Knowledge of techniques, exposure factors, kVp, mA, slice thickness, pitch.
  • Knowledge of intravenous and oral contrast administration, including indications and contraindications.
Requirements:
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in nuclear medicine.
  • A S. degree or graduate of a JRCNMT accredited nuclear medicine program.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certificate from Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
