Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and Operations: Plan and coordinate maintenance and operation of City parks and facilities, athletic fields, open spaces, and landscape areas, including inspection and maintenance.
- Facility Repairs and Maintenance: Ensure that all facility repairs and maintenance, including changing light fixtures and ballasts, patching and painting, tile work, light plumbing, and light electrical work, are done promptly and correctly.
- Facility Inspections: Conduct field inspections of parks, landscape areas, playground equipment, and other park facilities, evaluate field problems, and authorize changes or repairs as required.
- Supervision and Training: Perform assigned lead/supervisory duties, including receiving work schedules from the Superintendent, assigning job tasks on projects to subordinate employees, providing input regarding employee performance, and providing employee training in the performance of job duties.
- Inventory and Procurement: Inventory and procure supplies for parks, landscape, and restroom facilities as required.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent public relations and customer service skills, convey a positive professional image by action, communication, and appearance, and respond to citizen complaints and inquiries regarding the maintenance of parks, facilities, and landscape areas.
- Education: Equivalent to a High School diploma or GED.
- Experience: Five (5) years' experience in park maintenance, landscape, facilities, and operation and maintenance of associated equipment.
- Skills: Knowledge of landscaping and parks maintenance, facility maintenance and management, principles and practices of supervision and training, and safety standards applicable to tasks performed in the department.
- Physical Demands: Ability to maintain physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, bending, crouching, stooping, and walking for extended periods of time, moderate and heavy lifting and carrying, and use of fingers, both hands, and both legs required.
