Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Research Nurse to support clinical initiatives at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This role is focused on clinical research, ensuring the protection of human subjects and a patient-centered approach throughout their participation in research protocols. Responsibilities include assisting in the development, execution, and oversight of clinical research protocols, ensuring the collection of accurate and reliable data that enhances public health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the formulation of clinical research and protocol-specific standards of practice (SOP).
  • Implement and evaluate process improvement strategies to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and SOPs.
  • Establish a nursing feasibility review process to evaluate the capability of implementing protocol trials within local nursing practices.
  • Work collaboratively with principal investigators to finalize and assess the efficacy of protocols, making necessary adjustments as needed.
  • Oversee the activities of team members involved in trials, clearly defining roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to clinical trial objectives and endpoints.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals in managing trials, reporting findings to principal investigators and summarizing clinical data as required.
  • Facilitate the informed consent process, providing ongoing patient and family education regarding clinical trials.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address recruitment and retention challenges within clinical trials.
  • Conduct interviews and evaluations of patients being screened for clinical trial participation.
  • Monitor research participants for adverse events and communicate findings to the study principal investigator.
  • Participate in the preparation of reports for regulatory agencies and assist in developing data management plans for clinical trials.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or Associate's degree in nursing (ADN) with two additional years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in nursing, clinical, research, or related settings.
  • Current nursing license in any US State.
  • Ability to be credentialed by the NIH Clinical Center.
  • Familiarity with federal regulatory requirements related to clinical research and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with NIH clinical trials is preferred.
