About the Role

The AWS Applications and Higher Level Abstractions (Apps) team is dedicated to delivering horizontal and industry-specific applications tailored for business users, offering the same on-demand scalability, reliability, and machine learning capabilities that characterize AWS services. This group encompasses various services, including Amazon Connect, End User Computing solutions, Marketing Technology, and innovative retail services.

Your Opportunity

This is an exciting chance to join a pioneering team at AWS, where you will contribute as a foundational engineer in developing a suite of AWS Apps and Services aimed at addressing significant challenges. You will play a crucial role in constructing services that utilize advanced AWS technologies such as SageMaker, Forecast, Athena, QuickSight, and Glue. As an early team member, you will engage in various responsibilities, from designing the overall architecture to owning substantial design and development tasks, while establishing the technological processes that will support our growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Navigate ambiguity while addressing complex problem spaces that have yet to be explored at this scale.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams aligned towards common objectives, fostering opportunities for cross-team influence and architectural collaboration.
  • Develop a customer-facing product from inception to market launch.
  • Contribute significantly to defining the team's technical direction, best practices, and long-term planning.
  • Front-end and full-stack engineers will partner with Product, UX, and Engineering teams to define the end product and customer experience, implementing it with top-tier web technologies and AWS services.
  • Back-end engineers will construct the core infrastructure and service platform, leveraging key AWS capabilities along with cutting-edge machine learning, AI, and analytics models.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in design or architecture of new and existing systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
