Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Coordinator to join our team at Geisinger Health System. As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our front office activities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Registration and Scheduling: Accurately register patients for appointments, verify demographics, and schedule future appointments as needed.
  • Check-in and Check-out Process: Ensure all check-in procedures are completed, monitor patient wait times, and communicate changes to patients as necessary.
  • Insurance and Billing: Read and interpret insurance responses, understand general guidelines and insurance rank requirements, and properly assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter.
  • Financial Obligations: Communicate financial obligations to patients, collect fees at time of service as appropriate, and ensure patients receive necessary disclosure and privacy information.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Complete all necessary regulatory forms with patients, communicate the purpose of, and ensure compliance with organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality, and patient rights.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, communicate effectively with patients, and respond to patient inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Productivity and Quality: Maintain high productivity and quality performance expectations, work independently to ensure timely resolution of all accounts, and maintain accurate medical record maintenance and releases.
  • Referrals and Pre-certifications: Assist with referrals and pre-certifications at the time of encounter, and properly utilize and maintain patient recall and reschedule lists.

Work Environment

This is a part-time position with 8 hour shifts between the hours of 12p-12a, every other weekend and rotating holidays required.
