Position Title: Lead Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Beverly, MA

Role Summary:
This position entails a highly practical approach to engineering within the manufacturing sector. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will be tasked with planning and coordinating activities aligned with advanced project timelines, while also developing long-term strategies under supervision. This role involves the analysis of intricate issues independently and the coordination of cross-functional development alongside supplier operations.

Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be expected to perform a variety of essential functions, including but not limited to:

  1. Conducting evaluation tests, verification, and validation in compliance with ISO, FDA, and corporate standards.
  2. Estimating production timelines, staffing needs, and associated costs to aid management decision-making.
  3. Collaborating with management and team members regarding manufacturing capabilities and production schedules to streamline processes.
  4. Utilizing statistical techniques to troubleshoot processes and execute root cause analysis.
  5. Enhancing existing operations by integrating new methodologies, processes, and training initiatives.
  6. Managing equipment procurement and installation, along with performing IQ/OQ and PQ functions.
  7. Investigating production-related operational challenges and addressing them systematically.
  8. Preparing necessary manufacturing documentation for product creation.
  9. Coordinating various projects effectively.
  10. Identifying opportunities to minimize production expenses.
  11. Collaborating with R&D and other departments to develop cost estimates for new designs.
  12. Engaging with regulatory entities to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and design standards.
  13. Acting as a collaborative team member to support 'design for manufacturability' initiatives.
  14. Assisting R&D in transitioning new products to production status.
  15. Generating and updating assembly documentation, including travelers and work instructions.
  16. Processing engineering changes (ECOs).
  17. Controlling manufacturing costs through innovative manufacturing and assembly techniques.
  18. Evaluating and reviewing product costs.
  19. Providing support on the production floor.

Additional Responsibilities:
Beyond the essential functions, the incumbent may be required to undertake other non-essential tasks as directed by their supervisor.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, with a strong foundation in interpreting engineering drawings and manufacturing process planning.
  2. Experience in machine shop practices, including milling, turning, and grinding.
  3. Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies.
  4. Previous exposure to automation technologies.
  5. Proficiency in mechanical design using SolidWorks.
  6. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, preferably within the medical device sector.
  7. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with prior experience in technical writing and procedure development.
  8. A demonstrated ability to function effectively as part of a team.
  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  10. Self-motivation and initiative.
