Position Overview

Professional - Clinical (Non-Nursing) | Radiology Breast Imaging | Full Time | Day Shift (M-F 8a-4p/9a-5p)

Sign-On Bonus: $10,000

Role Summary: As a Lead Mammography Technologist, you will execute a variety of standard and specialized breast imaging tasks, utilizing independent judgment and creativity with minimal oversight. In partnership with the Breast Imaging Manager, you will play a key role in guiding the team and upholding the Quality Assurance program, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Comprehend and comply with Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
  2. Organize resources and personnel for effective, safe, and high-quality patient care operations.
  3. Communicate and ensure adherence to institutional and departmental policies, quality initiatives, and regulatory requirements.
  4. Oversee daily operations and workflow for front desk, Mammography, Breast MRI, and Ultrasound teams in collaboration with the Breast Imaging Manager.
  5. Manage staff schedules to guarantee adequate coverage across all shifts for all modalities.
  6. Prioritize tasks and delegate responsibilities to meet workload demands, proactively addressing special or emergency requests.
  7. Assist the manager in onboarding new personnel, timekeeping, training, and professional development.
  8. Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports.
  9. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, escalating issues to leadership as necessary.
  10. Effectively communicate, implement, review, and educate staff on new departmental processes.
  11. Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to ensure appropriate scheduling of breast imaging procedures and facilitate smooth patient flow, including handling same-day additions and other patient-related concerns.
  12. Engage with patients to ensure wait times are maintained within acceptable limits.
  13. Anticipate patient inquiries and provide reassurance through education.
  14. Address patient complaints and concerns through service recovery initiatives.
  15. Work with departmental leaders on initiatives aimed at enhancing patient satisfaction.
  16. Audit staff positioning and productivity to maintain high imaging quality standards.
  17. Perform all breast imaging procedures, including advanced positioning techniques.
  18. Ensure radiation protection and patient immobilization in accordance with safety protocols.
  19. Assist physicians during Interventional Breast Biopsy procedures.
  20. Conduct quality control assessments of imaging equipment in line with departmental policies.
  21. Adhere to and uphold standards set by DOH, JCAHO, MQSA, and ACR as mandated by these governing bodies.
  22. Support ACR equipment accreditation submissions.
  23. Maintain quality control logs for all equipment and ensure compliance with downtime procedures for computer systems.
  24. Exhibit strong communication skills and maintain a professional demeanor, demonstrating empathy and a positive attitude.
  25. Uphold a professional appearance and consistently adhere to hospital and departmental dress codes.
  26. Be adaptable to changes in duties and hours based on departmental needs.
  27. Perform all other related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited allied health education program in radiography.
  • New York State DOH license required, ARRT(R)(M). Previous leadership or supervisory experience is essential.
  • Advanced ARRT Certification Required; CT, MRI, ARDMS, or NMTCB.
  • Meet continuing education requirements as established by governing bodies (24 ECE credits over a two-year period).
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Complete the radiation dose pledge for both Image Wisely/Image Gently through the American College of Radiology (ACR) during orientation or by the end of the probationary period.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership capabilities and exceptional interpersonal skills.
