Position Overview

The Lead Radiologic Technologist operates under the guidance of the Radiology Administrator or designated representative, executing both standard and advanced imaging tasks while showcasing proficiency in diagnostic and specialized radiography techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Adhere to established performance benchmarks, policies, and professional conduct.
  2. Prepare and accurately position patients for various examinations, taking into account specific protocol requirements and documenting necessary images and patient data.
  3. Oversee assigned areas and procedures, ensuring the production of high-quality technical images and reviewing completed examinations for appropriateness and thoroughness.
  4. Assist medical professionals during procedures as required.
  5. Conduct equipment quality assurance checks and calibrations, while managing supply inventory.
  6. Be available for emergency situations, on-call responsibilities, holidays, and flexible shifts as necessary for departmental coverage.
  7. Maintain cleanliness in workspaces, equipment, and tools, promptly reporting any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
  8. Process imaging requests or produce CDs as required.
  9. Perform routine administrative tasks such as answering inquiries, reviewing reports/films, and documenting information using the hospital's digital systems.
  10. Coordinate with transport services when patients are ready for pickup or return.
  11. Present radiology films, communicate findings to attending physicians, and document necessary communications.
  12. May serve as an instructor or mentor for new staff.
  13. Exhibit professionalism and courtesy in all interactions, adhering to the organization's behavioral standards.
  14. Introduce oneself and inform each patient or family member about the upcoming examination.
  15. Demonstrate expertise in providing age-appropriate care for diverse patient demographics.
  16. Engage in related duties, attend staff meetings, and participate in training sessions.
  17. Responsibilities and hours may adjust based on departmental or organizational needs.
  18. Manage scheduling, maintain attendance records, and oversee payroll functions.
  19. Order necessary supplies to ensure operational efficiency.
  20. Oversee daily patient flow and departmental activities.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited allied health education program in radiography.
  • New York State Department of Health Licensure or Limited Permit is mandatory.
  • ARRT registration (RT) and radiography certification (R) are required.
  • Must meet continuing education requirements as established by regulatory bodies (24 ECE credits over a two-year period based on year of birth).
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association is essential or must be obtained within a specified timeframe post-hire.
  • Commit to the radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology during orientation and prior to the conclusion of the probationary period.
