Position Overview:

In alignment with our mission to enhance the quality of life for the Residents we support, the Housekeeping Services Manager is pivotal in delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining cleanliness throughout the facility. This role encompasses the strategic planning, development, and comprehensive management of the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments, ensuring the environment is consistently clean, safe, and free of unpleasant odors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees, directs, and coordinates the activities of the housekeeping and laundry personnel.
  • Accountable for the sanitation and cleanliness of Resident rooms and all facility areas, including outdoor spaces.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations by maintaining a consistently clean and sanitary environment.
  • Manages the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments within established budgetary constraints.
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations for all team members, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Facilitates counseling and disciplinary measures for staff as necessary.
  • Responsible for the training and development of team members.
  • Ensures adherence to infection control protocols and safety measures while performing tasks and utilizing equipment.
  • Reports hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, and supply shortages to the appropriate authorities.
  • Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of Residents, engaging with them in a respectful and compassionate manner.
  • Responds promptly and courteously to call lights while in Resident care areas.
  • Assists with the onboarding of new admissions and transfers of Residents within the facility.
  • Communicates effectively and tactfully with Residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
  • Upholds a high level of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations, sharing information strictly on a need-to-know basis.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Understands and implements Infection Control guidelines, including hand hygiene, isolation protocols, and waste management.
  • Advocates for Resident Rights by supporting informed decision-making, treating Residents with dignity, and safeguarding their personal belongings.
  • Performs additional tasks as needed.
Supervisory Duties:

Supervises departmental staff and others under their administrative or professional jurisdiction, adhering to organizational policies and legal requirements. Exercises independent judgment and discretion in executing these responsibilities.

Supervisory functions include interviewing, hiring, and training housekeeping staff; scheduling and assigning tasks; addressing staff absences; conducting performance evaluations; monitoring job performance; managing disciplinary actions; and overseeing payroll processes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a supervisory role within a housekeeping or Environmental Services department in a healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with LARA regulations.
