Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Laundry Aide is essential in enhancing the quality of life for Residents by providing comprehensive laundry services within the facility. This role involves the meticulous washing, drying, folding, and mending of garments while adhering to strict infection control and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accommodations may be arranged to assist individuals with disabilities in fulfilling essential duties.
  • Sorts and pre-soaks soiled textiles according to established infection control standards. Items are weighed and loaded into washing machines, selecting the appropriate cycle and water temperature, and adding the correct laundering agents as necessary. After washing, items are transferred to dryers with the suitable drying settings based on the fabric type.
  • Organizes and folds clean laundry for proper storage or distribution to linen carts in designated areas.
  • Handles Residents' personal laundry with care, ensuring items are pressed, folded, and delivered to their respective rooms using sanitized linen carts. Inspects these items for any repair or replacement needs and checks for identification labels.
  • Safely transports soiled linen carts to the designated holding area.
  • Adheres to Infection Control guidelines when laundering isolation linens and garments.
  • Ensures compliance with established infection control practices and safety measures at all times while performing tasks and utilizing equipment.
  • Reports any hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, or supply shortages to the supervisor promptly.
  • Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of Residents, interacting with them in a respectful and compassionate manner.
  • Responds promptly and courteously to call lights while working in Resident care areas.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new staff members.
  • Communicates effectively and tactfully with Residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Upholds confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Promotes and safeguards Resident Rights, assisting them in making informed choices and treating them with dignity and respect. Protects personal belongings and reports any suspected abuse or neglect.
  • Applies hand hygiene principles throughout daily tasks, demonstrating an understanding of isolation and standard precautions, recognizing signs of infection, and complying with health program protocols.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not include supervisory duties.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in a laundry or housekeeping role.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on thoroughness.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and respect the privacy of Residents.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking to perform job functions efficiently and courteously.
