Job Overview

Position: Warehouse Worker

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the movement of materials and products from receiving or production zones to storage or other specified locations.
  • Organizes and categorizes items on shelves, racks, or bins based on established criteria such as size, type, style, color, or product identification.
  • Stores perishable items in appropriate refrigerated areas or freezers.
  • Responds to requests for supplies, tools, or other stock items, distributing them to production staff or assembly lines.
  • Compiles customer orders from inventory and positions them on pallets or shelves, or transports them to packing or shipping departments.
  • Labels materials with identifying details and logs quantities of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Effectively utilizes the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track production, shipping, receiving, and inventory data.
  • Handles the shipping of finished products and ensures all related documentation is completed in accordance with established shipping procedures.
  • Receives raw materials and ensures all related documentation is accurately completed as per receiving protocols.
  • Conducts thorough inspections of trailers and completes all related documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Monitors job tasks to uphold food safety and quality standards, reporting any concerns to supervisors or the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Measures or counts items for distribution within the facility to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Arranges stock materials in designated order for assembly by other team members.
  • Operates vehicles to transport stored items from the warehouse to the plant or to collect items from various locations for shipment.
  • Prepares samples or parcels for mailing as required.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures, utilizing equipment and materials correctly.
  • Observes safety and security protocols, reporting any potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Maintains accurate inventory records and performs cycle counts as needed.

Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must be willing to operate various types of forklifts.

Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required; six to twelve months of related experience and/or training is preferred. Forklift experience is advantageous.

Language Proficiency:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as production schedules, inventory reports, safety regulations, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and communicate effectively with groups of customers or employees.

Computer Proficiency:
Successful candidates should possess proficient typing and computer skills, including familiarity with inventory software, order processing systems, and spreadsheet applications (MS Excel), as well as word processing software (MS Word) and email applications (Office 365). Knowledge of Warehouse Management System software and hardware, including handheld scanning devices, is essential.

Certifications:
Candidates must obtain and maintain a valid forklift and pallet jack operator's license within seven (7) working days of hire.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to sit, use hands for handling, reach with arms, and communicate. Occasional standing and walking are required, and employees must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
Employees may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate, but employees may need to enter production areas where noise levels are high, and hearing protection is necessary.
