Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in supporting the pharmacy's administrative and technical functions. This position is responsible for assisting in the development and ongoing assessment of training programs for clinic personnel who engage with the pharmacy, ensuring adherence to established pharmacy protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitates the receipt, storage, dispensing, and return of pharmaceuticals. Serves as a communication link between pharmacy management, clinical teams, project managers, and logistics departments.
- Prepares and verifies the accuracy of medication labels, aids in the packaging of doses, and ensures compliance with FDA regulations and study protocol requirements for all dosage units entering and exiting the clinic.
- Ensures that all study drug products prepared or verified by pharmacy technical staff meet the highest quality standards, safeguarding the safety of study participants and the integrity of the research.
- Contributes to the ongoing evaluation of training initiatives for clinic staff interacting with the pharmacy, ensuring compliance with pharmacy procedures.
- Assists in the execution of all mandatory in-house sterile technique assessments for all personnel.
- Engages with sponsors and clients regarding current and prospective studies, clarifying K2 Staffing procedures and addressing inquiries related to drug handling and study close-out processes.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in aseptic techniques and IV certification.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Able to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant formal academic or vocational qualifications.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
- Certification as a pharmacy technician, licensed by the Board of Pharmacy.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience that equips the individual with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Prior experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to fulfill the role effectively, comparable to at least 6 years, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
