Job Title: Functional Safety Engineer

Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) is a leading global power management semiconductor company. We are seeking a highly skilled Functional Safety Engineer to join our dynamic team.

Job Summary

The Functional Safety Engineer will support the Functional Safety Manager in defining and implementing safety architectures for our next-generation power portfolio, targeting automotive applications such as ADAS, Battery Management, Powertrain, and more. This role will involve collaborating with engineering teams to derive functional safety requirements, overseeing the implementation of ISO26262 documentation, and performing safety analyses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect hardware solutions to enable company product compliance with applicable safety standards such as ISO26262 and IEC61508.
  • Work with engineering teams to support the Functional Safety Manager in deriving functional safety requirements in compliance with state-of-the-art automotive standards.
  • Oversee and own the implementation of ISO26262 documentation in JAMA.
  • Perform safety analyses, such as DFA, FMEDA, and FTA.
  • Support safety assessments with 3rd party assessors.
  • Partner with technical marketing engineers to develop mutually agreeable design specifications.
  • Participate in ISO 26262 standards conferences.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel (5-10% of the time).
Requirements
  • 2+ years' of work experience in safety-relevant IC product development.
  • Strong understanding of analog/mixed-signal ICs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions and across regions.
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results.
  • Strong understanding of the functional safety relevant IC product development process a plus.
  • Automotive or industrial experience a plus.
  • Experience with ISO26262 or IEC61508 a plus.
  • Experience with MCU or sensor development a plus.
Education Requirements
  • BS or MS degree with 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, or Automotive Engineering.
