Position Overview

The Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for creating detailed plans and producing intricate drawings that incorporate complex features based on preliminary sketches, comprehensive engineering notes, or concise verbal instructions. This role will engage in a variety of projects, catering to a diverse array of project types and clientele.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and produce detailed drawings by utilizing standardized drafting techniques derived from comprehensive sketches, verbal directives, and notes under the supervision of a senior engineer.
  • Gather initial drawings, calculations, and design concepts from engineers, integrating relevant data into coherent and comprehensive initial design models for evaluation and adjustment.
  • Implement company, client, and project-specific drafting standards and protocols to create control schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment connection diagrams.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to comprehend project specifications and validate design details in accordance with company standards and best practices.
  • Deliver a wide range of drawing production tasks, including problem analysis, layout, detailing, and drafting on projects of significant variety and complexity.
  • Engage in drafting activities alongside designers and drafters from other disciplines.
  • Maintain communication and correspondence with internal design teams and external clients and stakeholders.
  • Execute design modifications and project drawing updates.
  • Enhance CAD proficiency and strive for mastery of current CAD systems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to all company policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Structural or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program, along with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • A Master's degree in Structural Engineering may substitute for one year of experience.
  • A minimum of three years of structural engineering experience, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Successful completion of the FE or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) exam is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capacity to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving context, demonstrating critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA 3D), AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools (e.g., Revit and Tekla).
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with strong facilitation, team-building, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
