Role Summary:

The Structural Engineer III is responsible for providing expert assistance in Structural Engineering for 8-koi, a well-established consulting and service firm in Florida, recognized for delivering exceptional results for over 15 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and analyze data and documentation.
  • Conduct standard computations and analyses.
  • Create detailed drawings and visual aids.
  • Monitor construction activities on-site.
  • Perform basic surveying tasks.
  • Engage in fundamental design activities.
  • Support tasks including permit application preparation, material testing, and CAD work.
  • Execute moderate design responsibilities.
  • Prepare sections of project documentation.
  • Edit specifications as required.
  • Conduct research and investigative work.
  • Design comprehensive projects, systems, components, or processes.
  • Compile complete project documentation.
  • Design and implement experiments, analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Formulate and resolve engineering challenges.
  • Provide technical support to upper management and staff.
  • Participate in project document reviews for quality assurance.
  • Act as a technical expert in applying advanced engineering concepts and methodologies.
  • Stay updated on new developments impacting the organization and recommend necessary changes.
  • Organize, execute, and coordinate assignments effectively.
  • Assist in developing engineering standards and guidelines.
  • Lead initiatives in specialized engineering fields.
  • Review project documentation for compliance and quality assurance.
  • Undertake additional related tasks as assigned.

The applicant is expected to leverage their engineering knowledge and various office technologies across diverse assignments, managing multiple tasks efficiently. Essential characteristics for candidates include:

  • Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to evaluate, select, and adapt standard techniques and procedures.
  • General understanding of related fields and capability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience managing multiple moderate-sized projects or segments of larger projects.
  • Application of advanced techniques to enhance theories and practices in engineering.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Engagement with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Participation in project meetings, presenting engineering aspects effectively.
  • Maintaining confidentiality in sensitive matters.

Managerial Duties:

  • Delegate tasks to engineers, technicians, and administrative personnel.
  • Plan and coordinate intricate aspects of engineering work.
  • Develop scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Assist in proposals for professional services or funding for engineering projects.

The applicant is also accountable for upholding 8-koi / CDE Company Standards and Practices, contributing to project outcomes and overall profitability.

Qualifications:

  • Eligibility to work in the US.
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Structural Engineer.
  • Current Florida Professional Engineer License.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Successful completion of an entry drug screen and adherence to a drug-free policy.
  • Strong work ethic and collaborative mindset.
  • Exceptional multitasking and adaptability skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex documents, including regulations and contracts.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat.
  • Moderate typing speed and internet proficiency.
  • Task planning and calendar management capabilities.
  • Active membership in a professional practice organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, and RISA.
