Overview:
The Senior Structural Engineer will play a crucial role in providing expert support in Structural Engineering for 8-koi, a well-established service and consulting firm in Florida, recognized for delivering exceptional results to clients for over 15 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and analyze data and documentation.
- Conduct standard computations and analyses.
- Create detailed drawings and visual representations.
- Monitor construction activities for compliance.
- Perform basic surveying tasks.
- Engage in preliminary design activities.
- Assist with tasks such as permit application preparation, material testing, and CAD work.
- Execute moderate design responsibilities.
- Prepare sections of project documentation.
- Edit and refine specifications.
- Conduct research and investigations.
- Design comprehensive projects, systems, components, or processes.
- Compile complete project documentation.
- Design and execute experiments, analyzing and interpreting results.
- Identify and resolve engineering challenges.
- Provide technical guidance to management and staff.
- Review project documents for quality assurance and compliance.
- Stay updated on industry developments to recommend program or application changes.
- Organize, execute, and coordinate assignments effectively.
- Contribute to the development of engineering standards and guidelines.
- Lead initiatives in specialized areas of expertise.
- Review project documentation for adherence to standards.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
The ideal candidate will leverage their engineering knowledge and office technologies across various assignments, managing multiple tasks efficiently. Essential attributes include:
- Ability to independently apply extensive knowledge of engineering principles.
- Capability to evaluate and adapt standard techniques and procedures.
- General understanding of related fields and teamwork in multidisciplinary environments.
- Experience managing multiple moderate-sized projects or segments of larger projects.
- Advanced skills in modifying and extending scientific theories and practices.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Interaction with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Participation in project meetings, presenting engineering aspects effectively.
- Discretion in handling confidential information.
Managerial Duties:
- Delegate tasks and supervise engineers, technicians, and administrative personnel.
- Plan and coordinate detailed engineering activities.
- Prepare project scopes, budgets, and timelines.
- Assist in proposals for professional services or funding opportunities.
The candidate is expected to uphold 8-koi's standards and practices, contributing to the overall success and profitability of projects.
Qualifications:
- Eligibility to work in the US.
- 4-8 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Structural Engineer.
- Current Florida Professional Engineer License.
- Valid Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation.
- Successful completion of a drug screening and adherence to a drug-free policy.
- Strong work ethic and collaborative mindset.
- Exceptional multitasking and adaptability skills.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and contract documents.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and moderate typing speed.
- Competence in Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, and RISA.
