Position Overview:
The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for conducting ultrasound examinations as per the directives of referring physicians.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcomes patients, elucidates the ultrasound process, and addresses any inquiries.
  • Selects the suitable ultrasound machine and probe to gather the necessary diagnostic information.
  • Applies ultrasound gel to the patient's skin, operates the probe, and oversees the equipment to capture high-quality ultrasound images.
  • Processes imaging films and evaluates the results to ensure they align with radiologist standards.
  • Conducts preliminary assessments by identifying any irregularities for radiologist review.
  • Utilizes ultrasound technology to assist healthcare providers during invasive procedures.
  • Maintains the functionality of equipment and cleanliness of the examination area, manages film storage, and tracks inventory of necessary supplies.
  • Compiles patient records, including identification, examination date, referring physician, and type of exam performed.
  • Generates and submits reports detailing the volume and types of examinations carried out.
  • Undertakes additional related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience as a sonographer is required.
  • Education: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is mandatory, along with completion of an ARDMS accredited or equivalent ultrasound technology program.
  • Licensure and Certification: Must possess a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate in either Ob-Gyn or Abdomen, along with Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Information:
  • Non-Registered Sonographers may be considered; however, they must meet the experience, education, and training prerequisites, and must pass the abdomen and/or OB/GYN Registry within one year of employment.

Work Schedule: This position requires on-call availability, with flexible working hours including evenings and weekends.
