Job Title: Patient Care Associate

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Patient Care Associate to join our team in Medford, Massachusetts.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and compassionate Patient Care Associate to provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families. As a Patient Care Associate, you will work under the direction of a registered nurse to assist with clinical support functions, promote a safe and compassionate patient care environment, and provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with patient care plan implementation as directed by the registered nurse.
  • Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, according to established guidelines.
  • Perform patient monitoring activities, such as vital signs and blood glucose, according to established guidelines.
  • Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as needed.
  • Perform patient rounds regularly and respond promptly to call lights to meet patient needs.
  • Document patient care in a timely manner, adhering to established standards.
  • Organize patient room clutter to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Collect and label specimens according to established procedures.
  • Mentor and teach new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; nursing assistant certification preferred.
  • Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
  • Enrollment in a nursing, pre-med, or physician assistant undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations, or possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment in a nursing assistant, medical assistant, mental health technician, or EMT-accredited program.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to use hands requiring fine motor skills and sense of touch.
  • Ability to move, rotate, bend, and climb stairs.

Work Environment:

  • Work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other infectious agents.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
