About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Radiology Informatics Assistant to join our team at Children's Wisconsin. As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional support services to radiologists, referring physicians, staff clinicians, technologists, patients, and families.
  • Retrieve films, manage electronic images, locate patient information, record image releases, and upload and burn CDs.
  • Document imaging exams for clinics, physicians, attorneys, and other authorized requestors, ensuring the confidentiality of patient information according to CHW policies and HIPAA statutes.
  • Assist patients and families with completing authorization forms as necessary.
  • Respond to all requests for patient health information made by phone or in person.
  • Process stat requests for copies of images utilizing both the imaging jacket and PACS.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, parents, visitors, clinicians, and physicians.
  • Monitor incoming imaging studies to PACS to ensure all studies come across the system properly and are placed in the patient's medical record.
  • Use the Hospital Electronic Health Record (EHR) and PACS to locate patient information, record film and image releases, log and return outside films, resolve exceptions, import and export images from outside facilities, and perform automated workflow tasks.
  • Coordinate consultation requests between providers and radiologists.
  • Read and communicate radiologist exam reports to physician offices.
  • Assist with training new employees as requested.
  • Triage incoming imaging calls and forward calls to appropriate departments and personnel.
  • Notify vendors of equipment failure and manage repairs.
  • Request imaging jackets from off-site facilities and digitize images into CHW PACS.
Requirements
  • Ability to read and write legibly, assemble various forms and films, understand detailed instructions, communicate with physicians, and perform other clerical functions as directed.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients, parents, staff, physicians, and other outside customers.
  • Medical terminology and basic anatomy knowledge to interact with medical personnel.
  • Intermediate computer skills to utilize sophisticated information technology systems.
  • Analytical ability to perform comparisons between numbers and letters to accurately complete data entry into the EHR, PACS, and electronic cloud-based system.
  • Prioritize workload to promote continuity of care while demonstrating the ability to work independently in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds to process patient film jackets from storage shelving.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and respect for the confidential nature of patient information.
  • Maturity, communication skills, and etiquette to triage service requests in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Proficiency in film digitization and CD burning functions associated with the PACS.
Working Conditions

Exposure to dust and general office environmental noise. Provides services in a setting where there is no reasonable potential for exposure to blood or other high-risk body fluids.

Schedule: Monday, Thursday, and every other Friday, 8:00-4:30pm.
