Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Technician to join our team at Prisma Health. As a Phlebotomy Technician, you will play a critical role in the laboratory process, ensuring the safe and efficient collection of blood samples from patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Specimen Collection

Collect blood samples from patients using proper technique and protocol, verifying patient and specimen identification to ensure accuracy.

Sample Processing

Access specimens into the computer system, perform Point of Care testing, and process samples for testing, including sorting, aliquoting, centrifuging, and labeling.

Quality Control

Follow established safety procedures, respond to safety violations, and report any hazardous or infectious situations to ensure patient safety.

Communication

Communicate effectively with patients, guests, and team members, using positive interpersonal skills to provide excellent customer service.

Administrative Tasks

Perform administrative duties, such as data entry, scanning patient data, and tracking workload performance, to ensure accurate and timely processing of samples.

Requirements
  • Education

High School diploma or equivalent, or post-high school diploma/highest degree earned.

Training

3-month training in phlebotomy certification or previous phlebotomy experience/training in formal programs.

Certifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of general phlebotomy equipment, interpersonal and communication skills, basic computer skills, and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
