The RoleWe're seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Care team in Boone, NC. As a key member of our team, you'll play a critical role in delivering high-touch, high-quality care to patients, including coordination of care across different physicians and within the healthcare system.
Responsibilities- Engage patients prior to provider visits, prepare and set expectations
- Plan for necessary services or steps required in the clinic (e.g. flu vaccine, blood draw)
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, safe, and ready for patient visits
- Ensure efficient patient flow by preparing for visits, rooming patients in a timely manner, getting necessary information, and assisting providers with staying timely on their schedule
- Obtain vital signs, patient status and needs, and review medications
- Collect phlebotomy and other lab specimens; perform basic waived lab tests
- Deliver patient screenings per protocols and assist physicians as needed
- Provide patient care in line with training, certification, and regulations (e.g. vaccine administration)
- Catalog and communicate patient needs to PCPs and broader Care teams
- Support other diagnostic and care needs for patients, in collaboration with Care teams
- As directed and in line with certification, support pharmacy medication dispensing
- Schedule diagnostic testing
- Apply or assist with application for Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
We're looking for a candidate with a high school diploma or equivalent education, a minimum of 1 year of work experience in the healthcare industry, preferably as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or similar in a hospital, medical clinic, or comparable environment. Certification in BLS (including CPR) and experience with an EMR and similar technology are also required.
