Job Summary

Aiken Regional Medical Centers, a 273-bed acute care facility, seeks a Unit Clerk/Care Team Technician to assist in the planning, organizing, and implementing activities on the nursing unit. The successful candidate will perform clerical and receptionist duties, as well as patient care/service activities/procedures as outlined by the state.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and record patient data accurately and promptly.
  • Recognize and report variances in patient condition.
  • Follow the plan of care and recommend changes to meet ongoing patient needs.
  • Provide care related to patient needs and well-being.
  • Participate in shift report to meet individual patient needs.
  • Document data collection, tasks performed, and patient response accurately.
  • Report abnormal data findings immediately.
  • Monitor patients receiving blood or blood components.
  • Monitor patients on fall precautions.
  • Perform interventions within scope of practice, including vital signs, I&O, foley catheter insertion/discontinuation/care, feedings, treatments, specimen collection, linen changes, activities of daily living, turning, and attending to hygiene needs.
  • Apply, replace, and remove monitoring electrodes and telemetry packs as needed.
  • Assist with patient preparation for procedures.
  • Transport patients within the hospital.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of unit supplies.
  • Utilize communication systems correctly.
  • Report identified problems to the Clinical Supervisor and/or Manager.
  • Report off to the Clinical Supervisor when leaving the unit.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the medical record.
  • Enter patient transfers/discharges into the computer system within 15 minutes.
  • Maintain universal chart order.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant program.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting or emergency care required.
  • EKG and Phlebotomy experience required.
  • Current CNA, EMT, or CMA certification preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
