Position Overview:

The Lead Echocardiography Technician is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Echo Department and managing the team effectively. This role includes performing adult echocardiography with proficiency, monitoring inventory, and ensuring the maintenance of equipment. Additional responsibilities include on-call duties and other tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide mentorship and training for new staff and students.
  • Address individual staff concerns related to morale, procedures, and safety under the Director's guidance.
  • Manage departmental training programs, tracking attendance and topics.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to foster communication.
  • Participate in the hiring process for new employees, collaborating with the Director.
  • Review and prepare employee performance evaluations with the Director's assistance.
  • Attend relevant hospital committee meetings as required.
  • Organize work schedules and allocate personnel effectively.
  • Ensure adequate staffing to cover absences and time off.
  • Handle administrative responsibilities, including budget preparation, report generation, and payroll documentation.
  • Oversee the inventory of technical supplies and coordinate with materials management for purchasing.
  • Stay informed about new procedures and technologies, participating in their evaluation and implementation.
  • Apply knowledge of patient growth and development as appropriate.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and quality assurance for imaging equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Adequate visual and auditory senses to monitor patient conditions.
  • Ability to remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in echocardiographic examinations in various healthcare settings.
  • Exhibit professionalism in all interactions with patients and staff.
  • Collaborate effectively with supervisors and team members to maintain a positive work atmosphere.
  • Ensure courteous and helpful interactions with patients, the public, and healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrate concern for patient needs and explain procedures clearly.
  • Commitment to meeting the expectations of both internal and external customers.
  • Work with clients to identify issues and propose solutions.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current BLS certification; ACLS certification preferred.
  • Registry in Cardiac Sonography is preferred.
  • Associate degree in cardiovascular technology or a related field.

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Legible writing skills in clinical settings.
  • Additional language skills are a plus.
