Salary Range: $103,000 - $120,000 per year

Position Overview:

The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer is tasked with enhancing and refining manufacturing processes by analyzing product development requirements. This role is crucial in identifying and bridging technology and process gaps.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to devise and implement strategies that promote improvements, cost efficiency, and volume requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives by providing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) insights and facilitating the transition of products from prototype to production.
  • Conduct PFMEA on new processes to ensure efficiency, predictability, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to quality and reliability standards.
  • Develop manufacturing processes by analyzing product specifications, researching, modifying, and testing methods and equipment, and working closely with equipment engineering teams. Create qualification plans, documentation, and oversee pilot runs.
  • Generate product-specific documentation to support assembly processes for new products.
  • Identify, qualify, and manage external contract manufacturers to address process technology and volume needs.
  • Oversee and qualify process transfers to other Mini-Circuits facilities and external partners.
  • Analyze assembly flow and throughput for various processes, initiating equipment acquisition, development, or modification to enhance quality, reduce costs, and increase production capacity.
  • Ensure product and process quality by designing control methods, establishing process capability controls, and continuously monitoring processes.
  • Develop and execute new process qualification plans, releasing new processes to production with all necessary documentation and qualification reports.
  • Address issues at the root cause level and implement solutions across similar products and processes.
  • Generate and review Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) related to assembly documentation.
  • Actively participate in daily production activities, providing effective problem-solving and guidance on rework and disposition.
  • Develop, implement, and take ownership of process control methodologies.
  • Provide equipment maintenance and repair support as necessary.
  • Evaluate and select various engineered materials.
  • Contribute to team efforts by engaging in department and company-wide initiatives.
  • Facilitate the implementation of continuous improvement events.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing engineering within the high technology electronics sector or similar fields.
  • Experience in PCB assembly processes, Surface Mount Technology (SMT) components, and assembly tools.
  • Strong knowledge of SMT Paste Printers, Pick & Place equipment, dispensing systems, convection and vacuum reflow ovens, X-Ray inspection (2D & 3D), and PCB depanelization.
  • Experience mentoring junior to mid-level manufacturing process engineers and/or technicians.
  • In-depth understanding of bare board fabrication specifications.
  • Familiarity with inspection requirements per IPC 610 A Class III and SMT DFM.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and departmental database programs such as AS400, Arena, etc.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic international team environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team and clearly communicate project status and issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results on time and take accountability.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures.
  • Extensive understanding of manufacturing problem-solving techniques.
  • Familiarity with product development and comfort in presenting technical information.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Experience with SPC, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies is preferred.
