Position Overview:

The Lead Echocardiography Technician is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Echo Department, ensuring high-quality service delivery and effective team management. This role involves performing adult echocardiography with proficiency, participating in on-call duties, and managing departmental supplies and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the Echo Department and its personnel.
  • Serve as a mentor and educator for new staff and students, fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Address staff-related issues, including morale, procedures, and disciplinary actions, in collaboration with the Director.
  • Organize and manage departmental training programs, maintaining records of attendance and topics covered.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to promote communication and address departmental updates.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection process for new team members under the guidance of the Director.
  • Prepare and evaluate employee performance reviews, ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
  • Attend relevant committee meetings to represent the Echo Department.
  • Develop and manage work schedules, ensuring adequate staffing levels for all shifts.
  • Oversee administrative functions, including budget preparation, payroll records, and statistical reporting.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of technical supplies, collaborating with materials management.
  • Stay informed about advancements in echocardiography techniques and equipment, integrating new practices into departmental operations.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control standards and safety protocols.
  • Facilitate the maintenance and quality assurance of imaging equipment in collaboration with other imaging staff.

Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to maintain composure in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Experience in performing echocardiographic examinations in various clinical settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and addressing patient needs effectively.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Registry in Cardiac Sonography is preferred.
  • Associate degree in cardiovascular technology or a related field is required.

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional language skills are a plus.
