Job Summary

The MRI Imaging Specialist is responsible for conducting imaging procedures in line with departmental protocols and standards. This role involves operating MRI scanners and related equipment with a high degree of skill and precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and confirm imaging requests for each patient, consulting with the Radiologist as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate patient identification and provide clear explanations of procedures to patients.
  • Gather comprehensive medical histories from patients and review relevant electronic medical records.
  • Oversee the imaging process from initiation to the completion of results.
  • Prepare and administer IV contrast as per departmental guidelines.
  • Assess the quality of images produced and collaborate with Radiologists when needed.
  • Provide basic patient care and notify nursing staff of any changes in patient conditions.
  • Assist in MRI scanning during invasive procedures while adhering to sterile techniques.
  • Maintain knowledge of radiation safety practices for staff and patients.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Keep the work area organized and ensure it is well-stocked and clean.
  • Support other medical staff during imaging exams as required.

Physical Requirements

This position requires moderate to heavy physical activity, including lifting and moving patients and equipment. The role may involve standing, walking, and sitting, as well as bending and stretching during daily operations. Adherence to radiation safety protocols is essential.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

A graduate of an accredited two-year program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology is required. Candidates must hold ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine, with advanced MRI registry eligibility. Current CPR certification is also mandatory.
