Position Summary
The MRI Technologist I is responsible for conducting imaging procedures in alignment with departmental protocols and standards. This role requires proficient operation of MRI scanners and related equipment, ensuring high-quality imaging results.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and confirm imaging requests for each patient, consulting with the Radiologist for any discrepancies.
- Accurately identify patients using two identifiers and provide clear explanations of procedures to ensure patient understanding.
- Gather comprehensive medical histories from patients and review relevant electronic medical records to inform imaging decisions.
- Oversee the imaging process from initiation to the completion of results documentation.
- Prepare and administer IV contrast materials as per established protocols, documenting details as required.
- Assess the technical quality of images and collaborate with Radiologists for additional imaging as necessary.
- Provide basic patient care and communicate any changes in patient conditions to nursing staff.
- Assist physicians during invasive procedures while adhering to sterile techniques and safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards for all personnel and patients.
- Report any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all areas are stocked and ready for use.
- Support other medical staff during imaging procedures as needed.
- Stay informed about MRI safety protocols to protect staff and patients.
Physical Requirements
This position involves moderate to heavy physical activity, including lifting and moving patients and equipment. The role may require standing, walking, and other physical movements throughout the workday, with adherence to safety guidelines to minimize exposure to hazards.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will have graduated from an accredited two-year program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology or be actively enrolled in a qualifying program. Certification in Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine is required, along with advanced registry in MRI within one year of hire. Current CPR certification is also mandatory.
