Position Summary:
The Compliance and Approvals Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that our operations adhere to all relevant permits and health and safety regulations. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including conducting technical evaluations of projects, reviewing sampling results, and overseeing inspection and documentation processes to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal standards. As a working manager, this role requires a strong background in the field, with a focus on analytical laboratory work and extensive experience in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough reviews of testing methodologies, site histories, and waste descriptions for materials considered for facility acceptance.
  • Assist in the evaluation and approval of new and ongoing projects to ensure compliance with acceptance criteria, maintaining accurate records as per permit requirements.
  • Assess inbound projects for completeness and compliance, approving jobs in the system and communicating with clients as necessary.
  • Ensure proper sampling procedures are followed for treated materials, including maintaining chain of custody to meet permit sampling frequency.
  • Review post-treatment sample data to verify adherence to permitted treatment standards.
  • Examine facility permits to confirm compliance with all conditions.
  • Maintain compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly and annual reports to regulatory bodies as required.
  • Conduct compliance assessments and risk evaluations to support operational safety.
  • Perform environmental health and safety inspections and maintain relevant documentation.
  • Coordinate and deliver necessary training for employees on environmental health and safety protocols.
  • Manage and uphold compliance programs related to safety regulations.
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure adherence to all safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in an Environmental, Health, and Safety role.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Willingness to utilize personal protective equipment as required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Aptitude for learning and utilizing various software for compliance tracking.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under pressure.
  • Skill in tactfully communicating sensitive information.
