Position Overview:
The Vice President of Model Risk Management will report directly to the Chief Risk Officer and will lead a dedicated team in establishing, developing, and executing the model risk management framework. This role is crucial in ensuring that our model development, validation, and governance processes are robust and effective, supporting various corporate initiatives including stress testing and capital planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Modeling & Analytics
- Guide the organization in the creation of models and analytical frameworks for financial forecasting and risk management.
- Engage with Cenlar Leadership and regulatory bodies to enhance the model risk management program.
- Oversee the analytics and modeling processes, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Transform model outputs into strategic actions for risk and profitability enhancement.
- Establish comprehensive reporting and analytical processes to reduce operational discrepancies.
- Develop and document methodologies, tools, and reports to support modeling efforts.
- Ensure team members receive adequate training for critical modeling functions.
- Collaborate across departments to facilitate the launch of new strategies with effective testing and controls.
- Lead a team of Model Risk Analysts to implement standards and practices aligned with Cenlar's risk appetite and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with the Model Risk Management Policy, reflecting regulatory expectations.
- Conduct independent validations of models and oversee third-party validations as necessary.
- Implement a credible challenge process to ensure thorough documentation of model assumptions.
- Manage the model inventory process, ensuring its completeness and accuracy.
- Oversee the resolution of significant findings through established management processes.
- Work closely with model owners to understand the business context and enhance model value.
- Facilitate governance processes for capital measures in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Provide meaningful reporting to management and the board regarding model risk activities.
- Ensure adherence to data management policies and standards.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for model inventory to support validation efforts.
- Establish a change management process for all models.
- Collaborate with managers to set and monitor departmental goals, providing regular feedback and guidance.
- Lead performance management and talent development initiatives across departments.
- Assess risks in business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
- Ensure all activities align with Cenlar's risk appetite and compliance requirements.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
- Master's or advanced degree in a quantitative field preferred.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in mortgage operations with leadership experience.
- Proven ability to maintain constructive relationships with regulators.
- Strong grasp of modeling concepts and practices within the mortgage industry.
