Job Title: College Counselor - Uplift Williams High

Uplift Education is seeking a highly motivated and experienced College Counselor to join our team at Uplift Williams High. As a College Counselor, you will play a critical role in supporting our students in their college search and application process.

Job Summary:

The College Counselor will be responsible for providing guidance and support to students in grades 6-12, helping them navigate the college admissions process, and ensuring they have the necessary resources and information to make informed decisions about their post-secondary education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and establish relationships with college admissions counselors, directors, and university outreach centers
  • Work with campus staff, faculty, and CMO RTC team to ensure students participate in college-related activities, including summer programs and talent identification programs
  • Coordinate registration, supervision, and other issues related to standardized tests, including SAT Reasoning Test, SAT Subject Tests, ACT, and PSAT/SAT Prep course
  • Host college admissions-related campus and network-wide events and high school visits for college admissions staff
  • Provide academic counseling to students and assist with comprehensive college counseling program, including financial aid
  • Ensure seniors submit high-quality completed college application materials on time to increase their chances of admission to their best-fit schools
  • Use technology and data resources to improve and streamline the college counseling process, such as Naviance, College Board Online, and computer-based test preparation
  • Maintain student college admissions files in an organized, up-to-date, and confidential manner
  • Support and communicate with school alumni as they matriculate and document progress toward matriculation as necessary

  • Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills
  • Ability to work well with students and their families and colleagues
  • Ability to travel via auto and air to support college students
  • Ability to manage highly emotional and high-stakes projects
  • Ability to complete a heavy workload within established time frames
  • Committed to excellence in all endeavors
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. Master's degree preferred but not required
  • Two to three years of experience in a school setting required. Experience with college advising preferred
Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents, students, and administration. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Computer Skills:

Competency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) and ability to learn and use computer software as necessary.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level is moderate and may have frequent interruptions. There may be activity from other employees and students of a distracting nature.
