Export Control Specialist

Job Summary
The Export Control Officer will support the Export Control Manager and Legal for their team in the provision of specialist Export Control and Sanctions knowledge, guidance, advice and oversight to the Business Line and Operations Sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Implementation of the Export Control Policy, Procedures and Compliance Program within their Site(s) and/or Business Line
- Manage the development, implementation and oversight of any Site(s) and/or Business Line procedures, guidance, training and communication required to implement the export control Policy, Procedures and Compliance Program
- Build strong relationships and contribute effectively and proactively to Business Line and/or Site performance in an advisory and expert capacity on Export Control and Sanctions matters
- Implementing solutions for export control compliance in line with the company Policies, Procedures & Compliance Program and in conjunction with the Export Compliance Manager (ECM) and Head of Export Control (HEC) seek to improve procedures where needed to enhance export compliance
- Determining the need for and managing export authorizations for their area of responsibility
- Preparing and submission of applications and enabling compliance with the provisions of the authorizations, including but not limited to expiration, quantity/decrementation, and license condition flow down
- Developing a comprehensive understanding of export control regulations in their Site(s) and/or Business Line as the local export control contact for their assigned Sites/area
- Providing general and business specific training and communication on export control, in accordance with export control procedures
- Support the training, development and oversight of the Export Control Coordinator (ECC) and Export Control Facilitator (ECF) network for their assigned Sites/ area of responsibility
- Monitoring and keeping up to date with the export control regulations of all countries with which the organization conducts business
- Performing self-assessment within their Site(s) and/or Business Line in line with the company Policies, Procedures & Compliance Program
- Providing any required or requested reporting to the business line ECM, HEC and Head of Legal (HOL)
- Conducting risk assessments and audit activities within their Business Line and/or Site(s) and the reporting of compliance information to the ECMs, HEC and HOL
- Conducting investigations, preparation of disclosures (where requested), design and implementation of corrective actions and ensuring that corrective actions are closed out
- Proactively seek opportunity to collaborate with and support the development of the Compliance function
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5-7 years of experience working with export control regulations and sanctions
- 2 years of experience working either in or with the United States defense industry, with a particular emphasis in aerospace or related field
- 5 years of experience interfacing with State Department's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
- 2 years of experience in the classification of goods, software and technology in multiple export control regimes
- 2 years of experience in the submission of export authorization applications in their local region with a knowledge of extraterritorial export authorizations
- Must be a US Citizen per program requirements

- Ability to analyze complex business situations and advise on the impact of export control regulations
- Able to clearly articulate and advise export control impacts on operations
- Be proficient in the submission of export authorization applications in their local region with a knowledge of extraterritorial export authorizations
- Can communicate clearly, accurately, confidently and in a timely manner
- Recognizes the importance of building effective relationships, establishing trust and a collaborative working relationship with colleagues both inside and outside of the export control function
- Can articulate the GKN corporate strategy and demonstrates a commercial awareness that considers business objectives and not just compliance technicalities
- Acts with integrity and understands the importance of high standards of ethical conduct
- Has the ability to work on own initiative to get things done, able to plan organize and prioritize workload, keeping colleagues informed and managing expectations

- The capability to identify and work with key internal and external stakeholders
- Understands and is able to clearly articulate the key export control compliance risks facing the business with appropriate context and recommendations for mitigation

- Experience in manufacturing and/or engineering experience
Compensation Range
The compensation range for this position is between $92,006 - $115,007.
