About the Job

This position is a phone-based customer service role supporting a government customer. Customer Service Representatives will answer phone calls from U.S. citizens and utilize a computer-based knowledge system to answer general questions about policies, practices, procedures, and other data to assist callers.

The ideal candidate will have a customer service orientation with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. They must be able to pass a thorough background check screening (credit and criminal history) to determine fitness for a federal security clearance.

About the Role

This is an onsite role with a government company answering high volume calls and providing outstanding customer service. The representative will work in a cubicle and will be required to multitask, speak, listen, read, and use a computer simultaneously during their scheduled shift.

The tasks of the call center are repetitive in nature, and the noise level is generally moderate. However, individuals will be required to work well independently as part of a team, adhere to standards and guidelines, and maintain quality results.

About You
  • You must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • You must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • You must be proficient in the English language (written and verbal).
  • You must be able to pass a thorough background check screening (credit and criminal history) to determine fitness for a federal security clearance.
  • You must be proficient in computer skills (MS Office, keyboarding speed and accuracy, internet-based research).
  • You must have oral and written communication skills sufficient to facilitate clear and accurate information exchanges with customers.
  • You must be able to take direction within a team setting and complete team-related work promptly.
About the Salary

The confirmed hourly pay rate is $12.89 per hour, plus $4.22 per hour in fringe pay, totaling $17.11 per hour. Overtime is calculated at 1.5 times the hourly rate.

About the Benefits

Employees will receive holiday pay for days that occur during the contract period. This is an onsite role with a government company, and employees will be required to wear a mask at all times in Lansing, MI.

About Security Clearance

Many positions through the Business Services Division require a security clearance. Candidates/employees must pass and maintain appropriate security and background checks as required for each area and/or contract. Employment may also be contingent upon successful security and background checks, which will be completed at no financial cost to the candidate.
