SUPERVISOR: PROGRAM DIRECTOR / DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL SERVICES
LOCATION: New York
SALARY: $18.00 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Residential Aide plays a crucial role in assisting clients with their fundamental needs. This position involves collaborating with the social services team to oversee and deliver essential services to individual clients. Proof of Covid-19 vaccinations is mandatory.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct intake assessments for new clients and provide orientation regarding facility policies and regulations.
- Distribute meals and snacks to clients during designated meal times.
- Perform routine inspections of common areas to ensure compliance with shelter guidelines.
- Monitor communal spaces, including laundry and dining areas, to ensure adherence to shelter policies.
- Keep storage areas organized and clean.
- Document and manage the lock system for client lockers.
- Assist clients in securing their belongings within assigned lockers.
- Manage the storage and retrieval of client property as necessary.
- Support the security team as required.
- Cover operational duties when needed.
- Maintain accurate records in client case files, both in writing and within the database system.
- Collect and photocopy client identification and necessary documents during the intake process.
- Assist clients with daily living skills, including hygiene and cleanliness.
- Handle laundering of agency linens and towels post-client departure.
- Adhere to the laundry schedule to ensure proper management of used linens.
- Participate in all required agency meetings, including staff and training sessions.
- Conduct regular inspections of client areas.
- Respond appropriately to incidents as they arise.
- Answer phone calls as necessary.
- Assist with overall house operations.
- Support maintenance tasks as needed.
- Review logbooks at the beginning of each shift to ensure timely completion of client intakes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate's Degree is preferred. A Food Handlers Certification is mandatory. Candidates should have at least one year of experience working with homeless or special needs populations. Strong communication skills and knowledge of relevant regulations are essential.
