Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at Institute for Comm Living. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling and independent lives.

Key Responsibilities

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing observations, evaluations, and reports to ensure individuals' progress toward treatment/habilitation goals.
  • Guiding and teaching individuals to develop skills required for a more independent lifestyle, in accordance with habilitative plans.
  • Assisting individuals with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Preparing and serving meals, and assisting individuals with eating and mealtime socialization skills.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of information and reporting unusual incidents and physical or behavioral symptoms promptly and accurately to the supervisor.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to provide direct services to adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Related experience desirable.
  • A current clean New York State driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications

Direct care experience with people with mental and/or physical disabilities is preferred. AMAP, SCIP-R, CPR/SFA certification is also desirable.
