We are seeking a visionary Systems Engineering Modeling Project Lead to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in leading the development and integration of sophisticated electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) systems using model-based systems engineering (MBSE).

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for applying MBSE architecture skills to lead a system engineering team. You will work closely with government sponsors, industry partners, and academic researchers to conduct research, trade studies, and engineering analyses to identify and apply promising new technologies to EO/IR system applications.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing systems engineering thought leadership focusing on architecture development and analysis for EO/IR systems.
  • Applying tools and leading other domain experts to evaluate architecture and allocation of system requirements.
  • Developing observations and recommendations on system engineering processes based on MBSE/digital engineering standard methodologies.
  • Participating in design and requirements reviews, as well as risk boards.
  • Applying past experience, while leading/coordinating research, studies, and analysis on current and future planning and coordination system capabilities.

To be successful in this role, you should have a B.S. degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physical Science or related field. A minimum of 7+ years of relevant MBSE and SE experience is required, including experience leading multi-functional/cross-organizational engineering teams. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff are also essential.

The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 - $220,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
