About the Job

This is an immediate hire opportunity for a Senior Level Red Hat Linux Engineer with strong cybersecurity and developer skills in shell scripting, C++ and/or Java. You will possess an advanced understanding of the deployment of Podman and Docker containers, virtual machines, virtual networking, system administration, and security hardening of the lab and deployed systems. This role requires someone with an understanding of diverse IT environments with the capability to learn quickly on multiple bleeding-edge technologies to include cloud environments, and remote access.

Responsibilities
  • Skillful System Administration: Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) transitions, accreditation, and documentation for DoD systems on multiple Department of Defense (DoD) networks at different levels of classification to support the Authorization To Operate (ATO). Secure system with DoD STIG/SRG security best practices.
  • Automated Tasks: Automate tasks using scripts such as Bash/Python or tools for system maintenance, installation, software and system configurations, and other tasks.
  • Secure Coding Practices: Analyze and develop secure coding solutions in complex software systems based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, C++, Java, JavaScript, and TypeScript for DoD systems.
  • Troubleshooting and Validation: Troubleshoot and validate support static code analysis (SCA) of the Fortify tool code findings in developer code to support the development of the application. Validate application functionality after security patch installation.
  • Patching and Maintenance: Create Linux, antivirus and application security patch bundles for distribution to fielded systems. Configuring and maintaining the networked computer system, including hardware, system software, and applications.
  • Technical Support: Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, networking, and system issues. Replacing and upgrading defective or outdated components. Monitoring system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely.
  • Documentation and Process Improvement: Documenting any processes that employees need to follow to successfully work within our computing system. Practice constant improvements to best facilitate customer interaction on internal and external connections dealing with a wide variety of data types and capabilities.
  • System Integration: Providing network and security engineering support for internal systems integration projects such as cloud-based services, virtual infrastructure, server, and storage environments.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Possess a BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field or 10 years of relevant technical professional experience.
  • Have five years of experience securing, analyzing, and documenting Linux systems for DoD RMF authorization, and significant knowledge of classified system lock-down procedures and standards such as STIGs and SRGs.
  • Having a working knowledge of at least one ubiquitous scripting language, such as sh, csh, or Perl, is also needed.
  • Have five years of experience in complex software development with an emphasis on secure coding practices. Significant knowledge of C++ and Java in a Linux/Unix environment is also needed.
  • Working knowledge of or willingness to learn JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python.
  • IAT-II Level Certification (e.g., Security + CE).
