Job Overview:

Position Summary:


The Lead Senior Accountant will oversee monthly financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting to management. This role involves entering and validating financial transactions, preparing journal entries, and managing the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.

Exhibit advanced knowledge of accounting standards and familiarity with GAAP and/or STAT accounting, with a robust understanding of reinsurance accounting practices.

Additionally, this position will lead special accounting initiatives and projects, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial data and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prepare quarterly and annual statutory financial statements in accordance with established timelines.

2. Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities as per schedule.

3. Conduct variance analyses and prepare reconciliations for accounts.

4. Create journal entries associated with reinsurance contracts and settlements.

5. Analyze complex financial reports and records.

6. Maintain professional communication with colleagues, management, clients, and stakeholders.

7. Adhere to all regulations, policies, and procedures.

8. Collaborate on complex accounting projects with fellow accountants.

9. Mentor and train junior accounting staff.

10. Provide insights and documentation regarding significant variances in monthly financial reports.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

- Capable of meeting a continuous stream of deadlines.

- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on research and resolution.

- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles.

- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.

- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the insurance sector is preferred.

Technical Skills:

- Proficient in advanced Microsoft Windows applications.

- Expertise in Excel.
