Job Summary

Chapman University is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician III to join our facilities team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for executing scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and corrective maintenance activities to ensure the optimal performance of our university's HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for campus mechanical systems, including site inspections, equipment adjustments, filter replacement, and condenser cleaning.
  • Respond promptly to work order requests and maintain equipment rooms in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Assist HVAC technicians as needed and complete all necessary paperwork and records as required by the department.
  • Collaborate with other trades as requested or required, and provide standby support for special events.
  • Assist with rain leak emergencies, including roof patching, sandbag filling, and placement.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of general mechanical experience with a demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads to ensure timely completion of tasks and minimize disruptions to other departments.
  • Ability to reason logically in priority setting and problem-solving, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to communicate effectively with the campus community and business contacts.
  • Ability to work in a variety of physical environments, including heights up to 30 feet, with a focus on safety and adherence to industry and regulatory standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous or current training in mechanical/HVAC disciplines.
