Position Overview:
The role of the Mortgage Lending Officer is a developing professional position that focuses on identifying policies and applying specialized knowledge to monitor and evaluate processes and data. This position integrates established disciplinary knowledge within its specialty area while maintaining a basic understanding of related industry practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with clients to discuss their financial circumstances, personal objectives, and lending requirements to assist them in achieving their home ownership aspirations.
- Gather and analyze detailed information regarding the client's financial status, including income, assets, debts, cash flow, and credit history.
- Conduct initial assessments of financial information to determine the suitability of lending solutions for clients and properties.
- Provide informed recommendations to clients regarding the most appropriate lending options to meet their financial and personal goals.
- Educate clients on the implications, risks, and advantages of various lending alternatives.
- Promote the Citigroup brand and its financial services to real estate agencies, builders, and other referral sources.
- Conduct client visits outside of the office, adapting to clientele needs and market conditions.
- Collaborate with internal partners to enhance customer support and growth.
- Refer clients seeking services beyond lending to the appropriate Citigroup professionals.
- Coordinate with Operations teams to ensure smooth transitions of loan applications and necessary documentation.
- Work closely with Processors and Closers to ensure timely loan closures.
- Develop relationships with key referral sources to drive mortgage business.
- Stay informed about market trends and regulatory changes to better serve clients and industry professionals.
- Exercise sound judgment in assessing risks associated with business decisions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in mortgage sales.
- Established book of business and proven sales capabilities.
- Experience with FHA/VA and conventional loans is preferred.
- Strong understanding of consumer lending laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated customer service and relationship management skills.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
This position requires registration as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry.
