Residential Loan Officer Job Description

Amalgamated Bank is seeking a highly skilled Residential Loan Officer to join our team. As a key member of our mortgage banking team, you will be responsible for originating and managing residential mortgage and HELOC loan applications, interacting with Spanish-speaking customers and referral sources, and ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new residential mortgage production by calling on internal and external referral sources
  • Interact with customers seeking information about mortgage loan products
  • Represent the bank to potential referral sources, including real estate brokers, builders, and financial professionals
  • Compile loan documentation, review customer documents for accuracy, and ensure all conditions and requirements for processing and closing have been met
  • Perform all tasks required to originate loans in compliance with federal and state regulations and company standards
  • Coordinate preliminary loan underwriting, pre-qualification, and mortgage counseling
  • Knowledge and understanding of all mortgage regulations, including Reg B, Reg Z, HMDA, RESPA, FRCA, TRID, and the SAFE Act
  • Knowledge and understanding of all mortgage documents and forms, including loan estimate disclosure, endorsements, assignments, underwriting transmittals, notices to applicants, commitments, attorney letters, and other documents as needed
  • Assist in tracking rates and preparing rate surveys of mortgage products
  • Perform other duties as directed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent, combination of education, training, and experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of mortgage banking experience, preferably in a production role
  • Fluent in Spanish, a must
  • Encompass experience preferred
  • Good computer skills, proficiency in Word, Excel, and Windows
  • Experience with front-end loan processing system, preferably Encompass
  • Ability to travel and meet customers after hours
  • NMLS registered or able to become NMLS approved

Compensation:

The base salary for this role is $62,400.00 plus commissions. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as training, transferrable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
