Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aerospace Shop Lead to join our team at General Dynamics. As a key member of our maintenance and repair operations team, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating all tasks assigned within the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul shops.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all physical and regulatory requirements related to aircraft and/or aircraft component maintenance.
  • Review work performed and ensure completion of applicable forms and records necessary for compliance with Repair Station regulatory requirements and Corporate Standards.
  • Plan, schedule, and arrange completion of tasks in order to meet all MRO schedules.
  • Arrange technical training as required and ensure applicable PQL qualifications are kept current for subordinates.
  • Provide input to performance appraisals to area management for review.
  • Apply 6S and Lean Initiatives to ensure shops are meeting production requirements, work areas remain clean, uncluttered, and safe.
  • Lead and instruct shop personnel in proper procedures and techniques.
  • Ensure all work performed by assigned team complies with all required documentation including Component Maintenance Manuals, drawings, blueprints, Computerized Maintenance Procedures, and all other applicable required documentation.
  • Support process improvement through lean initiatives and other tools to enhance efficiency, safety, and production.
  • Ensure assigned team maintains and uses all required paperwork in accordance with FAA Repair Station requirements.
  • Ensure assigned team complies with all company and legislative environmental health and safety regulations.
  • Identify and resolve gaps within processes to ensure continuity of operations within the framework of repair station requirements.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated leadership ability and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret all required maintenance and regulatory documents.
  • Demonstrated expertise in operating all tools, test equipment, and/or material handling equipment relevant to the area or responsibility.
  • Ability to operate specialized tooling.
  • Good understanding of shop math.
  • Proficiency in use of commercial and proprietary software packages and apps.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
