Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Volunteer and Recreation Services Supervisor at Huron-Clinton Metroparks. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage volunteer services and recreation programs that promote community engagement and outdoor recreation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment and management strategies to engage diverse populations and meet organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with park staff and strategic partners to plan, develop, and implement assigned recreation programs, events, and activities that meet the needs of the community.
  • Manage volunteer applications, waivers, and records to ensure compliance with Metroparks volunteer requirements.
  • Supervise volunteers, seasonal, and part-time employees as assigned, providing guidance and support to ensure successful program implementation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, and universities to partner in assigned recreation programming.
  • Utilize data and evaluations to guide recreational programming decisions and ensure program effectiveness.
  • Manage budgets and evaluations of assigned recreation programs and events.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation, programming, business, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Two years of supervisory experience in event planning, recreational programming, volunteer management, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in a related field, with knowledge of recreational programming principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Ability to plan, organize, implement, and report on recreational programs and activities.
  • Ability to provide direction to other employees in the area of recreational programming and volunteer management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.
Working Conditions

The work environment is typically quiet, with occasional outdoor work in various weather conditions. The employee must be able to walk, sit, talk, and hear, and use hands to operate objects, tools, or controls.
