Role Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the facility through proactive maintenance and inspections. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting inspections, testing, and performing Operations & Maintenance (O&M) as well as preventive maintenance on plumbing, mechanical, electrical, fire & life safety systems, and temperature control equipment.
  • Utilizing results-oriented strategies to ensure the ongoing functionality of all systems.
  • Maintaining proficiency in managing multiple Building Management Systems (BMS) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Communicating effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and test mechanical and electrical systems, as well as fire & life safety features using various tools and instruments.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and testing on equipment.
  • Oversee and work on fire detection and suppression systems as required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in elevator recall testing, fire and smoke doors, fire dampers, fire pumps, and security alarms.
  • Maintain knowledge of life safety codes and relevant requirements.
  • Document all tests and inspections accurately using both digital and handwritten logs.
  • Provide clear communication regarding work performed and system status to stakeholders.
  • Interpret engineering drawings related to system layout and operation.
  • Respond promptly to customer needs.
  • Report directly to the Senior Lead Engineer regarding project productivity and any relevant issues.
  • Identify and resolve problems efficiently; analyze information skillfully and develop alternative solutions.
  • Adhere to established codes and safety procedures in all work.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree in HVAC, Plant Operation, or Electrical preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Maintenance Engineer with intermediate knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical systems, and fire/life safety codes.
  • CFC Universal certification for refrigerant handling is required within 90 days of hire; NICET certification is a plus.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must pass a motor vehicle record check and meet qualifications to operate a vehicle for company business.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening is required.
  • Tobacco use in any form is prohibited for this position.
  • Annual flu vaccination or medical proof of flu vaccine allergy is required.
