Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the functionality of the facility through regular inspections, maintenance tasks, and testing of essential systems, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and fire safety systems. The role requires sound judgment to determine when to seek assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and testing of mechanical and electrical systems, utilizing various tools and instruments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and testing on equipment as specified.
  • Oversee and work on fire detection and suppression systems as necessary.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in various systems, including elevator recall testing, fire and smoke doors, fire dampers, and security alarms.
  • Maintain knowledge of life safety codes and relevant requirements.
  • Document all tests and deficiencies accurately using both digital and handwritten logs.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding work performed and system status.
  • Interpret engineering drawings related to system layout and operation.
  • Respond promptly to customer needs.
  • Report directly to the Senior Lead Engineer regarding project productivity and any pertinent issues.
  • Identify and resolve problems efficiently; analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; collaborate effectively in problem-solving scenarios.
  • Adhere to established codes and safety procedures in all work performed.
  • Perform additional duties as required and qualified.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree in HVAC, Plant Operation, or Electrical preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Maintenance Engineer with intermediate knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • CFC Universal certification for refrigerant handling required within 90 days of hire; NICET certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills; maintains confidentiality; listens actively; remains open to new ideas.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Strong written communication skills; able to edit for clarity and accuracy.
  • Must pass a motor vehicle record check and meet qualifications to operate a vehicle for company business.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening is required.
  • Tobacco use in any form is prohibited for this position.
  • Annual flu vaccination or medical proof of flu vaccine allergy is required.
