Role Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Engineer will conduct inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on plumbing, mechanical, electrical, fire, and life safety systems. This role is crucial for ensuring operational continuity and requires sound judgment to identify when further assistance is necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections and diagnostics on mechanical and electrical systems, utilizing various tools and instruments.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and testing on equipment.
- Oversee fire detection and suppression systems as required.
- Demonstrate proficiency in multiple systems, including elevator recall testing and fire safety mechanisms.
- Maintain knowledge of life safety codes and compliance requirements.
- Document tests and deficiencies accurately using both digital and manual logs.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding work performed and system status.
- Interpret engineering schematics related to system layouts and operations.
- Respond promptly to customer needs and inquiries.
- Report directly to the Senior Lead Engineer regarding project productivity and any relevant issues.
- Identify and resolve issues efficiently, contributing to group problem-solving efforts.
- Adhere to established safety protocols and codes in all tasks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on qualifications.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree in HVAC, Plant Operations, or Electrical preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience as a Maintenance Engineer with intermediate knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- CFC Universal certification for refrigerant handling is required within 90 days of hire; NICET certification is a plus.
- Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Basic computer proficiency and strong written communication skills.
- Must pass a motor vehicle record check and meet company vehicle operation qualifications.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening is mandatory.
- Tobacco use in any form is prohibited for this position.
- Annual flu vaccination or medical proof of allergy is required.
